BlackCoat-Tx: Activewear for Digital Lifestyle Security
CLEVELAND, OH—July 21, 2005 – Koyono Co. announces the release of BlackCoat-Tx, a line of fashion activewear t-shirts and tanks designed for carrying personal electronics while wicking moisture away from the body. Devices are entirely hidden when stowed in the shirts. The new shirts will be released to retail and available for sale to the public on August 21, 2005. The tank will retail for $35 and the t-shirt for $45 USD.
These patent pending garments contain two (2) specially designed compartments that are interconnected by a single passageway. A zipper opening is strategically positioned in the center of the passageway allowing easy storage and removal. These shirts represent a completely new design incorporating some of the industrial design features presented in the original BlackCoat-T line of t-shirts that was released in Fall 2004.
The BlackCoat-Tx, like the BlackCoat-T before it, addresses the increasingly difficult problem of safely and conveniently caring mobile devices. With cell phones, music players and PDAs becoming staples for the general public and targets for thieves, device security is a growing concern.
Both formats of the BlackCoat-Tx are made from moisture-wicking, odor-resistant, PowerDry® by Polartec®. Power Dry® is designed to keep your skin dry when you sweat. This fabric features a patented bi-component knit construction that uses different yarns on either side of the fabric. This creates two different surfaces: one that is optimized to move moisture away from the skin, the other to dry quickly.
The original design was intended to be worn under a men’s dress shirt, with the zipper hidden behind a button but the distinctive styling has quickly became an urban fashion statement as well.
Koyono President and lead designer, Jeasung Yoo states, “With the Tx design we have achieved a simple, sophisticated harmony between any active body and mobile technology, in keeping with our firm belief that less is more. The BlackCoat-Tx in the result of a lengthy refinement process aimed at getting to the essence of fashion and utility for the urban, active lifestyle.”
According to Jim Haviland, KoyonoChief Experience Officer, “We recognized customers were using the original BlackCoat-T to hold a cell phone and iPod™ while working out, skateboarding, or other active sports. The cut and material in these shirts is optimized for that purpose. This shirt is so light and well crafted; I think people will be wearing them everyday. Pre-orders from our best customers have forced us to speed up production.”
